DAY TWO

By Marsha Brick

I had an early start with my first appointment being at 8 am and finished after 5 pm. I walked over18,000 steps, went to 10 different showrooms. I visited some old suppliers and met some new suppliers. I reconnected with some of our old representatives and met some new ones.

One of my stops was at Durham Furniture where they were having a party, “Breakfast in Bed”, to celebrate being in business for 120 years. I walked in to see the new bedrooms they developed for this year and what new occasional tables they have. I ordered some new tables for the store in some of the new finishes. They also increase their finish option from 40 to now 50.

Then I stopped over at Hooker Furniture to meet my new representative, Colleen. We visited another showroom as I was looking for a chair for a client and I was sure that I had seen something in past markets that was what I was looking for. I found it. Colleen had just recently sold her business and decided to go on the road as representative.

Then I stopped by to visit Bill at Howard Miller and see what new curios they featured at the market. One of the things that Howard Miller does is let you pick your finish for some of your curios so that it fits with your décor. Because it is made in the US it doesn’t have extra tariff from China. Another item that has lots options are bars; from bar cabinets to stand up bars, especially designed for your home taste.

I went to Universal Furniture. They had a section on small spaces and would show you how to furnish a room to get the most use out of the space. They show kids room, small bedrooms and dining rooms. There were a lot of interesting designed spaces. As condos and new apartments being made smaller, this was good way to see how to furnish these spaces.

I learned that there is a price increase coming in December for the Hypnos mattresses.

It was a busy second day at the High Point Furniture
